Located in the Circle City Industrial Complex at 1125 Brookside Avenue in Indianapolis, Centerpoint Brewing Company opened its doors in October 2017, although construction and brewing began well before that. The brewery is a collaboration of three home brewers, who were fraternity brothers at Rose Hulman Institute of Technology. So, you can be pretty sure that the science behind their beer is solid.
The spacious tap room serves up Centerpoint brews from all sixteen taps. Head brewer, Derek Herring, brews a wide variety of beer beginning with his German styles. Examples include the Centerpoint Gold (a Kolsch), the Doppelbock, and a Schwarzbier. He also makes a number of other brews of American, English, and assorted varieties. They will soon be tapping a SMASH IPA with Idaho 7 hops, followed by a Berliner Weiße. In addition to the tap room, Centerpoint product can be found on tap in bars, restaurants, and pubs around central Indiana. They also have six pack 12 ounce cans of their top sellers.
Centerpoint jumped feet first into the brewing business, brewing on a 30 barrel system on day one. This enabled them to very quickly produce a large volume of tasty brews and supply their taps with no need for guest taps. Plans are already underway to expand production with the pending addition of more fermenters to complement the existing 180 barrels of fermenting tankage.
Amanda Wallace is the face of the tap room as well as the person to see about private events. Having been with Centerpoint from the beginning, she represents the front of the house in all things. She says that the top selling brews in the tap room are the Centerpoint Blood Orange IPA, the Centerpoint Gold, the Centerpoint Black, the Schwarzbier, and the Java Jitter Juice (a dark ale using Strange Brew’s Holiday Grog coffee). The other taps are pouring a variety of styles that should appeal to just about anyone’s taste. It would be worth the trip to the tap room for any craft brew lover.
